Thorogood 1957 Series 8-inch Briar Pitstop Waterproof Soft Moc Toe Wedge Sole U.S. Made Men’s Work Boot – 814-3800

The Thorogood 1957 is an 8-inch waterproof work boot with a wedge sole and plain toe, sporting a handsome vintage style that hearkens back to the good ol’ days of working class, mid-century America. The Briar Pitstop full-grain leather upper will form a protective patina over time, which means that these American-made work boots age with grace while also lasting a lot longer than treated leather boots since the material is left in its original condition retaining its naturally rugged properties. On top of that, the 1957 features Goodyear Storm Welt construction which means that the outsole is sewn to the upper rather than glued, allowing the boot to be re-soled multiple times. You won’t have to worry about that for a while however, thanks to the polyurethane MAXWear wedge outsole that lasts up to 20-30 percent longer and is less prone to cracking than the rubber used on other work boots. The slip-resistant wedge outsole used on this 8-inch work boot is flat with a shallow tread pattern and features no heel. This design is ideal for ironworkers or carpenters since it provides maximum surface contact, and the absence of a heel virtually eliminates the risk of tripping should you have to shift your footing while standing up on a beam. These are also great for factory workers who have to stand on hard concrete floors all day as the flatness of the sole puts less strain on your knees and spine, as well as roofers and farmers as wedge soles track less of the outdoors in with you thanks to their shallow tread pattern.

Mother Nature always has other plans, but thankfully these work boots feature an X-Stream waterproof breathable membrane which locks water out while allowing your feet to breathe to keep you working in incelement weather. On top of that, an Ultimate Shock Absorption footbed cushions your every footfall for maximum comfort, while a lightweight fiberglass shank helps to reduce the added strain and fatigue of long hours spent on your feet.
